Lately, there has been some buzz about dual monitor set-ups. PC World Magazine, Entrepreneur Magazine, even The New York Times have all written articles about how great they are. So what is all the hype? Well, for starters, multiple monitors increase the efficiency and productivity of the PC user. Extended desktops, multiple work environments, etc, all from one PC, helps to truly maximize the power of the PC. So what is it exactly and how do you do it?
Multiple monitors is simply 2 or more monitors hooked up to 1 computer system. Most stock and pre-assembled PCs, such as a Dell or HP, probably only came with one VGA or DVI output to connect a monitor to.
If you ask NVIDIA what SLI is it would go something like this:
NVIDIA SLI (Scalable Link Interface) NVIDIA SLITM (Scalable Link Interface) technology is a revolutionary approach to scalability and increased performance. NVIDIA SLI takes advantage of the increased bandwidth of the PCI ExpressTM bus architecture, and features hardware and software innovations within NVIDIA GPUs (graphics processing units) and NVIDIA nForce4 MCPs (media and communications processors). Together the NVIDIA SLI patent-pending technologies work seamlessly to deliver heart-pounding PC performance.
I was just asked about computer related magazines while on the phone with a customer. She asked if I read them and if so which ones. The answer is, I do, and I read PC World. It is the perfect mix of information and more importantly, gadget highlights, that I look for in a magazine. If you have never read the magazine, check it out. I posted a link below for a discount on the magazine, and 2 free issues before your start a subscription.
